Our November meeting coincidentally falls on Saint Catherine’s Day, the patron saint of lacemakers, so we are planning a little celebration!

Traditional festivities include the wearing of elaborate hats, begging for ale, eating cattern cakes, and lighting a firework pinwheel. We are planning several of these fun activities - although we will probably just buy our ale and light sparklers outside. 😉

We will also enjoy the reciting of some lace tells by our member Devon Thein. Wear a silly hat, bring a lace project, and come join the fun with us! 💓

The Brooklyn Lace guild is thrilled to be the Textile Arts Center's November Work in Progress resident at the Manhattan studio. We are set up in the storefront window studio for the duration of the month, and have weekly open studios on Saturday from 2 to 6pm where our members work on their lace projects.

To celebrate, we are holding an exhibition party next Saturday, November 19th from 6 to 9pm! Come join us to meet our members, see live demos, have some wine and snacks, and possibly even try your hand at lacemaking.
Hand lacemaking is a practice worth treasuring, and this event will be a wonderful way for our community to come together and have an uplifting evening.
